Renovation of a Cottage in Whitby
Thanks for looking. We are renovating this old (pre 1650) cottage. When completed it will be available to rent as a holiday cottage of extreme character and comfort. It'll sleep 6+2 and will be pet friendly.
A First look at the Whitby Holiday Cottage
This is video guided tour of the cottage as we bought it. If you visit our facebook page and Like It we can let you now when next videos are up.
We've made a lot of progress on cottage since then and we're doing our best to write in detail about what we are doing. The links below will tell you more about our project to restore this lovely old cottage and make it one of the most desirable holiday cottages in Whitby.

A PROPER restoration/renovation of a Cottage
Where possible we are using traditional materials and techniques during the restoration. The Cottage has been modified over the centuries but many features still survive. From the cruck frame to an early inglenook fireplace through Georgian timber panelling to Victorian "modernisations". All these add to the rich character of the cottage and are worth preserving for enjoyment of anyone who stays in it as a holiday cottage and for future generations. However you wont have to live like in the "olden days" all the modern luxuries will be included.

The Whitby cottage renovation is an extreme DIY project (although professionals will be doing the roof, the other half won't let me up there). I'm covering various individual tasks in great detail. You can see a full list of the various projects in detail here.
